[1] Income from continuing operations includes purchase accounting expenses, acquisition and integration-related expenses, restructuring charges, pension settlement charges and hearing loss settlement charges of $0.5 million, $0.5 million, $0.1 million, $6.1 million and $1.5 million, respectively, as well as a $20.8 million net benefit from special tax items, primarily represented by the Company’s preliminary estimate of the impact of the 2017 Tax Act, including the effect of the reduction in the corporate tax rate in the U.S.
