VENTURE CAPITAL INVESTMENTS AND MARKETABLE SECURITIES	VENTURE CAPITAL INVESTMENTS AND MARKETABLE SECURITIES Venture Capital Investments During fiscal years 2018, 2017, and 2016, the Company recognized gains related to the venture capital investments of $15.9 million, $22.9 million and $10.3 million, respectively. The Company’s total commitment to these venture capital funds as of December 29, 2018 was $124.7 million, of which the Company funded $69.0 million through that date. During fiscal years 2018, 2017, and 2016, the Company received dividends totaling $18.2 million, $10.1 million, and $7.1 million, respectively. As of December 29, 2018 and December 30, 2017, the Company’s consolidated retained earnings included $14.1 million and $12.1 million, respectively, of the undistributed earnings related to these entities. Marketable Securities The Company held no marketable securities as of December 29, 2018 and December 30, 2017. During fiscal year 2016, the Company realized non-significant losses and received proceeds of $4.6 million from the sale of its available-for-sale securities.
