The first quarter 2017 effective tax rate includes adjustments to the tax provision to reflect planned amendments to and finalization of prior years' income tax returns. The first quarter 2016 effective tax rate includes a $9 million tax benefit primarily due to adjustments to the tax provision to reflect the finalization of 2014 foreign income tax returns.
