Earnings Per Share EARNINGS PER SHARE
Basic earnings per common share is computed by dividing net income attributable to Piper Sandler Companies by the weighted average number of common shares outstanding for the period. Diluted earnings per common share is calculated by adjusting the weighted average outstanding shares to assume conversion of all potentially dilutive stock options, restricted stock units and restricted shares. The Company uses the treasury stock method to calculate diluted earnings per common share.

The anti-dilutive effects from stock options and restricted shares were immaterial for the years ended December 31, 2025, 2024 and 2023.

Common Stock Split
As discussed in Note 1, on February 6, 2026, the Company's board of directors approved a four-for-one forward split of its common stock, which will be effected through the filing of an amendment to the Company's amended and restated certificate of incorporation on March 23, 2026. The unaudited proforma computation of EPS on a post-split basis is as follows:
