Revenue, Practical Expedient [Abstract]
Remaining performance obligation, practical expedient true
Remaining performance obligation, practical expedient description TDS has certain contracts at U.S. Cellular and TDS Telecom in which it bills customers an amount equal to a fixed per-unit price multiplied by a variable quantity. Because TDS invoices customers in an amount that corresponds directly with the value to the customer of the entity’s performance completed to date, TDS may recognize revenue in that amount. As a practical expedient, these contracts will be excluded from the estimate of future revenues expected to be recognized related to performance obligations that are unsatisfied as of the end of a reporting period.
