NORMA Group helps save water worldwide Maintal, Germany, 19 March 2015 – NORMA Group, a global market leader in engineered joining technology, supports the worldwide trend toward efficient and sustainable management of water as a valuable resource with its many different products and systems. The company thereby follows the motto of World Water Day 2015, “Water and Sustainable Development.” The United Nations celebrates World Water Day annually on 22 March. In light of global population growth and global warming, the UN uses the day to focus on securing worldwide access to water. Increasing droughts and large-scale fires are a sign of water scarcity and climate change. At the same time, according to the current UN World Water Report, half of the world’s water is used up by inefficient irrigation in agriculture. That is why NORMA Group sells systems for drip irrigation in the USA that save up to 70 percent of water compared to systems with spray nozzles. In Australia, NORMA Group’s water pumps are used to fight bush fires and ensure access to water for the sparsely populated “dry continent.” In addition, in many locations across the world people still do not have access to clean drinking water. In Vietnam, NORMA Group contributes to the renewal and expansion of Ho Chi Minh City’s drinking water supply network with water meter boxes. “With the high quality of our joining products and systems, we contribute to significantly reducing leaks in public and private water pipes and thus minimizing the primary cause of water loss,” says Werner Deggim, CEO of NORMA Group. “We thereby help to preserve the valuable resource and secure access to drinking water for future generations. We also see this as part of our responsibility to society.” NORMA Group supports access to water with its social commitment, as well. In October 2014, the development aid program NORMA Clean Water started in cooperation with the the child aid organisation Plan International. All around the city Pune in the western Indian state Maharashtra, by 2017 a total of around 14,000 girls, boys, and teachers are to benefit from an improved drinking water supply and sanitation infrastructure. Together with local partners, construction and structural measures as well as training sessions on hygiene education will be implemented in 50 schools in urban and rural areas beginning in March 2015.
