Related Parties	NOTE 24. RELATED PARTIES Mr. Christopher B. Sarofim, a director of Kemper, is Vice Chairman and a member of the board of directors of Fayez Sarofim & Co. (“FS&C”), a registered investment advisory firm. The Company’s Pension Plan had $124.5 million, $171.8 million and $148.4 million in assets managed by FS&C at December 31, 2018, 2017 and 2016, respectively, under an agreement with NOTE 24. Investment Expenses incurred in connection with such agreement were $0.9 million, $0.9 million and $0.8 million for the years ended December 31, 2018, 2017 and 2016, respectively. The Company believes that the transactions described above have been provided on terms no less favorable to the Company than could have been negotiated with non-affiliated third parties. As described in Note 21, “Other Reinsurance,” to the Consolidated Financial Statements, the Company also has certain relationships with Capitol, a mutual insurance company that is owned by its policyholders, and its subsidiary, ORCC.
