Related Party Transactions RELATED PARTY TRANSACTIONS
Robert W. Kirkwood, a member of the Company’s Board of Directors, is a principal of the Kirkwood Companies, including Kirkwood Oil and Gas LLC, Wesco Operating, Inc., and United Nuclear LLC (“United Nuclear”). United Nuclear owns a 19% interest in the Company’s Arkose Mining Venture while the Company owns the remaining 81%. The Company acts as manager of the Arkose Mining Venture and has management and control over operations carried out by the Arkose Mining Venture. The Arkose Mining Venture is a contractual joint venture governed by a venture agreement dated as of January 15, 2008 and entered into by United Nuclear and Uranerz Energy Corporation, a wholly owned, indirectly held subsidiary of the Company (“Uranerz”) and United Nuclear (the “Venture Agreement”).
United Nuclear contributed $0.08 million, $0.13 million and $0.31 million to the expenses of the Arkose Joint Venture based on the approved budget for the years ended December 31, 2023, 2022 and 2021, respectively.
On October 27, 2021, after closing on the sale of certain conventional uranium assets to CUR, the Company began providing services to CUR under a mine operating agreement. See Note 7 – Property, Plant and Equipment and Mineral Properties for more information. Pursuant to that agreement, the Company earned $0.57 million and $0.45 million during the years ended December 31, 2023 and 2022, respectively. As of December 31, 2023 and 2022, the Company was due $0.05 million and $0.08 million, respectively, from CUR for revenues earned under the mine operating agreements. Additionally, the Company accrued $1.53 million and $1.54 million as of December 31, 2023 and 2022, respectively, in Other long-term receivables related to deferred cash payments for production thresholds pursuant to the terms of the asset purchase agreement with CUR.
