Concessionaire for Galileo about to be selected
OHB Technology AG well positioned with strong iNavSat consortium
Bremen, January 26, 2005. The iNavSat concession team in which OHB Technology
AG acts as core partner announced that the updated proposal for the Galileo
Concession was submitted to the GJU yesterday. The evaluation will lead to a
long awaited preferred bidder selection in February through the Galileo Joint
Undertaking (GJU) followed by an immediate start of the concession contract
negotiation. After the approval by the transport council on December 10th 2004
to move to the deployment and operating phase of the Galileo programme, the
preferred bidder selection will be the last key milestone to set the tracks
for its realisation.
Within the past months OHB Technology AG has strongly supported the iNavSat
team as it is the firm believe of the OHB management that this consortium has
the most adapted approach to this first European Private Public Partnership.
Marco Fuchs, CEO of OHB Technology said: “it is a pleasure for us to be part
of this pan-European team, where the OHB companies will play a major role in
the different fields”.
Within the overall team, OHB Technology will co-ordinate the telematics
activities. Ulrich Schulz, Director of OHB Teledata stated; “As one of the
largest telematics service providers, we see the number of applications
growing that need the precise positioning information Galileo will offer.
The iNavSat consortium was founded by EADS Space, Inmarsat Ventures and the
Thales Group. They were joined by three additional core members and future
equity partners OHB Technology, SES Global and Vitrociset.
To date over 40 international partners are now supporting the iNavSat
consortium, which was founded to become the Galileo Concessionaire.
