Exhibit 99
----------
Press release issued August 5, 2004 in which the Registrant announced that the
first eight diamond drill holes from this summer's program at Seabridge Gold's
100% owned Courageous Lake property in the Northwest Territories have been
drilled and assayed. The results confirm the strong potential for a significant
expansion in size and grade of the multi-million ounce FAT deposit, already
Canada's largest undeveloped gold project. Drilling will resume on August 10
with an additional rig to increase meterage during the short summer season.

Please note that reference to the Registrant's Annual Information Form filed
with SEDAR in Canada for the year ended December 31, 2002, on the last page of
the press release, should have been to the Annual Information Form filed with
SEDAR in Canada for the year ended December 31, 2003.
