NOTICE OF AN ACQUISITION OF A BENEFICIAL INTEREST IN SECURITIES

In accordance with Section 122 of the Companies Act, No 71 of 2008, as amended, and paragraph
3.83(b) of the JSE Limited Listings Requirements, DRDGOLD shareholders are advised that the
Company has received notification that Van Eck Associates Corporation (“Van Eck”) has acquired

of a beneficial interest in the American Depository Receipt Programme held by Bank of New York
Mellon (the “Acquisition”).

Following the Acquisition, Van Eck will hold an equivalent of 16.99% of the total issued ordinary
share capital of the Company.

FURTHER CAUTIONARY ANNOUNCEMENT

Further to the cautionary announcements released on SENS, the last of which was dated
Friday, 5 September 2014, shareholders are advised that the pro forma financial information

relating to the disposal of the underground mining and prospecting rights held by East Rand
Proprietary Mines Limited, and related assets, have not yet been finalised (“Financial Effects”).

Accordingly, shareholders are advised to continue exercising caution when dealing in the
Company’s securities until the Financial Effects are fully disclosed on SENS.
