ORBIS achieves positive result despite the slow economy Ad-hoc-announcement transmitted by DGAP. The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– Saarbrücken, August 20, 2003 — ORBIS AG recorded Group sales of Euro 11.0 million during the first six months of the 2003 financial year (June 30, 2003). Group profit for the reporting period was Euro 0.6 million, again confirming that the consolidation measures taken in response to market developments as a whole were correct. This equates to a profit per share of Euro 0.70 for the 9.1 million subscribed shares. The operating result (EBIT) of Euro 0.2 million is a clear improvement over the minus Euro 2.7 million recorded during the first half of 2002. As a result, equity capital grew during the reporting period to Euro 16.4 million (December 31, 2002: Euro 15.8 million). This corresponds to an equity capital ratio of 53.2 percent (December 31, 2002: 47.7 percent). The regular repayment of long-term loans coupled with investments led to a Euro 0.6 million decline in liquid assets during the first half-year of 2003 to Euro 8.3 million as of June 30, 2003. Cash flow from operations was Euro 0.1 million. Orders already received by the ORBIS Group as of June 30, 2003, cover 80% of the sales projected for 2003. During the first half-year of 2003 the ratio of personnel costs to sales revenues was 67.7 percent in comparison to 86.0 percent for the previous year. ORBIS had 233 employees as of June 30, 2003.
