Equity Investments

The Company applies the equity method of accounting to investments that provide it with ability to exercise significant influence over the entities in which it lacks controlling financial interest and is not a primary beneficiary. Our proportionate share of the income or loss is recognized on a one-quarter lag and is recorded as share of results of equity-method investee, net of tax.

The Company has an investment in one of our strategic suppliers which provides the Company with the ability to exercise significant influence over the investment vehicle, in which it lacks controlling financial interest and is not a primary beneficiary. Our share of gains and losses in the equity method investment is recognized on a one-quarter lag, and is reflected as share of results of equity-method investee, net of tax, in the accompanying Consolidated Statements of Operations.
