Per den 2 januari 2014 har Skandiakoncernens moderbolag Skandia Liv ombildats till att bedrivas i ett ömsesidigt bolag. Med anledning av detta har Skandia Livs samtliga tillgångar och skulder genom en beståndsöverlåtelse överförts från Skandia Liv till Skandiakoncernens nya moderbolag Livförsäkringsbolaget Skandia, ömsesidigt (”Skandia Ömsesidigt”), varefter Skandia Liv har upplösts efter att ha fusionerats med Skandia Ömsesidigt. Skandia Ömsesidigt ägs av försäkringstagarna som även formellt kommer att vara med att styra och påverka Skandiakoncernens inriktning genom att de röstberättigade kunderna får nominera och rösta på representanter till fullmäktige, som blir Skandiakoncernens högsta beslutande organ.
