4. Fair Value of Financial Instruments

As of December 31, 2020, the Company had $66.3 million in financial assets held in money market accounts and $39.0 million held in marketable securities, both of which were classified as Level 1 in the fair value hierarchy. The Company measured these assets at fair value. The Company classified these assets as Level 1 because the values of these assets are determined using unadjusted quoted prices in active markets for identical assets. During the year ended December 31, 2020, the Company had $15,000 and $29,000 of net realized gains related to its money market accounts and marketable securities, respectively. As of December 31, 2019, the Company did not have any financial instruments classified as Level 1 in the fair value hierarchy.

During the years ended December 31, 2020 and December 31, 2019, the Company did not maintain any assets or liabilities classified as Level 2 or Level 3 in the fair value hierarchy.
