Segment Reporting [Abstract]
Geographic Information Geographic Information
Under the Segment Reporting topic of the Codification, disclosures are required for operating segments that are regularly reviewed by chief operating decision makers. Air transportation services accounted for substantially all of the Company’s operations in 2022, 2021, and 2020.
Operating revenues are allocated to geographic regions, as defined by the Department of Transportation, or DOT, based upon the origination and destination of each flight segment. As of December 31, 2022, we served 34 locations in the Caribbean and Latin American region, or Latin America as defined by the DOT. We also served two destinations in Europe, or Atlantic as defined by the DOT. We include the three destinations in Puerto Rico and one destination in the U.S. Virgin Islands in our Caribbean and Latin America allocation of revenues. Therefore, we have reflected these locations within the Caribbean and Latin America region in the table below. Operating revenues by geographic regions for the years ended December 31 are summarized below (in millions):
202220212020
Domestic & Canada$6,067 $3,869 $1,890
Caribbean & Latin America2,968 2,150 1,067
Atlantic123 18 —
Total$9,158 $6,037 $2,957
Our tangible assets primarily consist of our fleet of aircraft. Except for our transatlantic service to London, which is operated by the long range variant of the Airbus A321neo aircraft, our fleet is deployed systemwide, with no individual aircraft dedicated to any specific route or region; therefore, our assets do not require any allocation to a geographic area.
