Interest-bearing deposits at December 31, 2017 and 2016, include allocations from interest-bearing demand deposit accounts of $919.1 million and $779.2 million, respectively, into savings, which includes money market accounts. These reallocations are based on a formula and have been made to reduce First Commonwealth’s reserve requirement in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
Included in time deposits at December 31, 2017 and 2016, were certificates of deposit in denominations of $100 thousand or more of $210.4 million and $145.4 million, respectively.
Interest expense related to certificates of deposit in denominations of $100 thousand or greater amounted to $1.5 million in 2017, $1.2 million in 2016 and $1.8 million in 2015.
