3.                        GOODWILL AND OTHER INTANGIBLE ASSETS

 

As of July 1, 2011 and December 31, 2010, the Company had $15.2 million and $12.5 million of goodwill, respectively, all of which relates to the Energy Solutions reporting unit, which is a component of the Engineering Services reporting segment.

 

The gross amounts and accumulated amortization of the Company’s acquired identifiable intangible assets with finite useful lives as of July 1, 2011 and December 31, 2010, included in intangible assets, net in the accompanying consolidated balance sheets, were as follows:

The Company’s amortization expense for acquired identifiable intangible assets with finite useful lives was $13,000 and $27,000 for the fiscal three and six months ended July 1, 2011, respectively, as compared to $4,000 and $16,000 for the fiscal three and six months ended July 2, 2010.  Estimated amortization expense for acquired identifiable intangible assets for the remainder of fiscal 2011 and the succeeding years is as follows:
