Hamburg, February 5, 2002. Listed in the Neuer Markt segment of the Frankfurt stock exchange, PANDATEL AG (WKN 691 630), a specialist in fiber-optic and copper-based network access and transmission technology, has entered into an alliance with Tellabs/USA, Naperville, Ill. (WKN 867 899). Tellabs is a leading supplier of equipment that helps build tomorrow’s converged networks of voice, data and video. Tellabs has long-standing business relations with leading service providers in more than 80 countries around the world. Under the terms of this agreement, PANDATEL will be working with a company that operates on a global level and plays a key role in the US optical networking market. This alliance will provide PANDATEL with key support for PANDATEL’s future expansion activities. As part of the alliance, Tellabs will use technology from Pandatel to enhance the Tellabs TITAN(R) 6100 optical transport system, a metro DWDM (dense wavelength division multiplexing) system that enables service providers to boost data transmission capacity by up to 32 times. The combination of Tellabs’ TITAN 6100 optical transport system with products from PANDATEL’s FOMUX family will open up new avenues for data transmission on different networks such as SANs (Storage Area Networks) and MANs (Metropolitan Area Networks). The integrated product solution will help service providers offer many new services by optimizing the data-transmission capacity of their existing networking infrastructures to provide new sources of revenue while reducing operating costs. PANDATEL and Tellabs have agreed that the new integrated solution will be marketed and sold via Tellabs’ distribution network.
