12. SEGMENT INFORMATION The Company has organized its operations into two principal segments: North America, which represents the United States and Canada, and International, which represents the rest of the Company's global operations. Segment operating results reflect earnings before stock-based compensation, acquisition-related expense (benefit), net, interest and other income, net, loss on equity-method investees and provision (benefit) for income taxes. Segment information reported in the tables below represents the operating segments of the Company for which separate information is available and for which segment results are evaluated regularly by the Company's chief operating decision-maker (i.e., chief executive officer) in assessing performance and allocating resources. Revenue for each segment is based on the geographic market where the sales are completed.
