Business Description and Basis of Presentation [Text Block]	(1 ) Description of Business and Basis of Preparation Build-A-Bear Workshop, Inc. and subsidiaries (collectively, the Company) is a specialty retailer of plush animals and related products. The Company began operations in October 1997. The Company sells its products through its 361corporately -managed locations operated primarily in leased mall locations in the United States, Canada, China, Denmark, Ireland, Puerto Rico and the United Kingdom along with its e-commerce sites. Operations in foreign countries where the Company does not have corporately-managed locations are through franchise agreements. The Company ’s consolidated financial statements have been prepared in accordance with accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America (“GAAP”) .
