Income Tax Disclosure [Abstract]
INCOME TAXES INCOME TAXESIn order to determine the Company’s quarterly provision for income taxes, the Company used an estimated annual effective tax rate that is based on expected annual income and statutory tax rates in the various jurisdictions in which the Company operates. Certain significant or unusual items are separately recognized in the quarter during which they occur and can be a source of variability in the effective tax rate from quarter to quarter.Income tax expense for the three months ended March 31, 2023 was $2.1 million, or approximately (4.0)% of pre-tax loss compared to an income tax benefit of $5.9 million, or approximately 22.3% of pre-tax loss, for the three months ended March 31, 2022. For the three months ended March 31, 2023, the Company’s effective tax rate differs from the U.S. federal statutory rate primarily due to the recognition of valuation allowances. Due to the Company's cumulative loss and the exhaustion of future taxable income from the reversal of taxable temporary differences, the Company's estimated annual effective tax rate for the current year includes a valuation allowance against the majority of the current year increase in deferred tax assets. For the three months ended March 31, 2022, the Company’s effective tax rate differs from the U.S. federal statutory rate primarily due to disallowed executive compensation, disallowed meals and entertainment expenses, stock compensation expenses, and asset impairment expenses.
