Accounting Policies [Abstract]
Schedule of New Accounting Pronouncements and Changes in Accounting Principles [Table Text Block] The Company adopted the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) Accounting Standards Codification (ASC) Topic 606, "Revenue from Contracts with Customers" (the New Revenue Standard), effective January 1, 2018, using the modified retrospective approach. ASC 606 prescribes that an entity should recognize revenue to depict the transfer of promised goods or services to customers in an amount that reflects the consideration to which the entity expects to be entitled in exchange for those goods or services. The guidance provides a five-step process to achieve that core principle:
Identify the contract(s) with a customer
Identify the performance obligations
Determine the transaction price
Allocate the transaction price
Recognize revenue when the performance obligations are met

The Company compared its current revenue recognition policies to the requirements of the New Revenue Standard. Titan recognizes revenue when the performance obligations specified in the Company's contracts have been satisfied. Titan's contracts typically contain a single performance obligation that is fulfilled on the date of delivery based on shipping terms stipulated in the contract. As of January 1, 2018, none of the Company's contracts contained a financing option and Titan did not have any contract assets or liabilities. The table below presents the cumulative effect of the adoption of the New Revenue Standard on select accounts of Titan's Condensed Consolidated Balance Sheet at January 1, 2018 (amounts in thousands):
