13. Segment Reporting
The Company manages its business activities on a consolidated basis and operates in one operating segment. Operating segments are defined as components of an enterprise for which separate financial information is available and evaluated regularly by the CODM in deciding how to make operating decisions, allocate resources and in assessing performance. The Company’s CODM is its Chief Executive Officer. The CODM utilizes the Company’s budgeted and forecasted expense information, as a key input to resource allocation. The CODM makes decisions on resource allocation, assesses performance of the business and monitors budget versus actual results using net (loss) income, as reported in the accompanying consolidated statements of operations.
Significant expenses within net (loss) income include cost of revenue, research and development, sales and marketing, and general and administrative expenses, which are each separately presented on the Company’s consolidated statements of operations. Other segment items within net (loss) income include net gain on
extinguishment of debt, gain on business interruption insurance recoveries, interest expense, net, other income, net, and income tax benefit.
