Income taxes The effective tax rate of the Company was 15.5% and 14.2% for the three and nine months ended September 30, 2020 compared to 12.2% and 11.6% for the three and nine months ended September 30, 2019. The three and nine months ended September 30, 2020 includes before tax investment tax credits of $276 and $821 compared to before tax investment tax credits and other credits of $394 and $1,172 for the same period last year.
