Retirement of Long-Lived Assets
Retirement of Long-Lived Assets

As a result of a decline in market conditions during the first half of 2015, management reviewed our rental compressor units that were not of the type, configuration, make or model that our customers were demanding or that were not cost efficient to refurbish, maintain and operate. As a result of that review, we determined that 258 units representing total horsepower of 32,259 should be retired from our rental fleet with key components from those units being re-utilized in future unit builds and/or repairs. We performed an optimization review and recorded a $4.4 million loss on the retirement of rental equipment to reduce the book value of each unit to the estimated fair value of approximately $967,000 for the key components being kept. The retirement is recorded in the income statement under loss on retirement of rental equipment.
