Inventories consist of the following:

Inventories stated on the LIFO basis amounted to $14.4 million at December 31, 2020 and $12.6 million at December 31, 2019, which were below replacement costs by $12.1 million at December 31, 2020 and $8.6 million at December 31, 2019. Inventories stated on the weighted average cost basis was $33.6 million and $32.9 million at December 31, 2020 and 2019, respectively, while inventories stated on the first in, first out method amounted to $18.4 million and $18.7 million at December 31, 2020 and 2019, respective
