Other Investments	Note 7. Other Investments As of December 31, 2014, we maintain minority investments in one privately-held company accounted for under the cost method as we do not have the ability to exercise significant influence over its operations. Our investments in this privately-held company is reviewed for other than temporary declines in value on a quarterly basis. We monitor our investments for impairment and record reductions in carrying value when events or changes in circumstances indicate that the carrying value may not be recoverable. Reasons for other than temporary declines in value include whether the related company would have insufficient cash flow to operate for the next twelve months, significant changes in the operating performance and changes in market conditions. We had one company which is accounted for under the cost method in 2014 and 2013. As of December 31, 2014 and 2013, our cost method investments had a carrying value of $200,000, and are included in “other assets” in the consolidated balance sheets.

The cost method and lower-of-cost or market, an adaptation of the cost method, is generally followed for most investments in noncontrolled corporations, in some corporate joint ventures, and to a lesser extent in unconsolidated subsidiaries in which the entity does not have the ability to exercise significant influence.
