Passenger growth at Copenhagen Airport continues Passenger numbers at Copenhagen Airport increased by 10.4% year on year in February. Transfer traffic grew again and domestic traffic continued its surge as a result of intensified competition. A total of 1,443,453 passengers travelled through Copenhagen Airport in February; this was 10.4% more than in the same month of 2008. The combined growth rate for the first two months of the year was 8.0%. “In February, we recorded growth across the board, and domestic traffic in particular continued to soar with a growth rate of 30.3%. It is also worth noting that transfer traffic is growing again, in February at the rate of 5.5%, which helps strengthen our position as a key northern European traffic hub,” said Carsten Nørland, VP, Sales at Copenhagen Airports. The growth in the number of domestic passengers was due to the intensified competition on the routes to Aalborg, Karup and Bornholm, and domestic traffic consequently accounted for more than 12% of total traffic at Copenhagen Airport. International traffic grew as well in February; the number of international passengers increased by 8.0% year on year. This was the fourth consecutive month of growth in passenger numbers at Copenhagen Airport.
