CPH: Strong underlying growth in April

Passenger numbers at Copenhagen Airport rose by a 39.0 % in April. Adjusted for
last year's ash cloud, the growth rate was some 10%, making this the busiest
April ever. The year-to-date increase in passenger numbers is 12.0%. 

”In April last year, Copenhagen Airport was closed for business for almost six
full days due to the Icelandic ash cloud, so any month-on-month comparison is
very difficult. But a growth rate of some 10%, having adjusted for the ash
cloud, indicates that the positive trend continues,” said Carsten Nørland, vice
president of sales at Copenhagen Airports. 

A total of 1,828,880 passengers travelled through Copenhagen Airport in April -
about 28,000 more than in April 2008, which was previously the busiest April
ever. Unadjusted figures show a 39.7% increase in international passengers, a
33.2% increase in domestic traffic and a 19.3% rise in transfer passengers
relative to April 2010. 

London remains the number one destination out of Copenhagen, followed by
Stockholm, having taken over the number two spot held by Oslo in March. New in
the top ten this month is Berlin.
