The Company has designated the trust preferred securities as being available-for-sale.  Accordingly, these securities were recorded at fair value of $3,839 and $3,902 at March 31, 2022 and December 31, 2021, respectively, with the unrealized gains of $163 and $226, net of taxes, as a component of stockholders' equity.

In accordance with ASC 321, the change in the fair value of marketable equity securities (preferred and other equity instruments) for the three months ended March 31, 2022 and 2021, was a loss reported as a component of net income in the amount of $4,100 and $1,765, respectively.

The aggregate fair value of debt securities with unrealized losses totaled $0 at March 31, 2022 and  December 31, 2021.
