September 1999 – Die Thyssen Krupp Stahl AG hat die PSI AG einen weiteren Logistikauftrag im Werk Bruckhausen erteilt. Der Auftrag hat ein Volumen von 6,5 Millionen DM. Zielsetzung ist die Optimierung der Verbindung der Stranggießanlage mit dem anschließenden Warmwalzwerk. Die PSI setzt ihren Erfolgskurs im Systemgeschäft mit einem Auftragsbestand von inzwischen deutlich über 150 Millionen DM weiter fort. Im Mittelpunkt dieses Geschäfts steht die Entwicklung kompletter Lösungen zur Stärkung der Wettbewerbsposition der PSI-Kunden. Durch die Optimierung der Verbindung des Strangguß- und des Warmwalzprozesses werden eine Kapazitätssteigerung, die Reduzierung des Energieaufwandes und des Lagerumschlags sowie erweiterte Planungsmöglichkeiten erreicht. Dies erfolgt auf der Basis eines ausfallsicheren Rechnersystems, in dem alle Prozesse, Materialflüsse und Lagerbestände erfaßt werden. Durch das von PSI eingesetzte Temperaturmodell wird eine zeit- und temperaturgerechte Anlieferung des eingesetzten Materials gewährleistet. Das für PSI strategisch bedeutende Projekt verbindet erstmals durchgängig die verschiedenen Automatisierungsebenen mit der vorhandenen Produktionsplanung. PSI stärkt damit die führende Marktposition als Anbieter von Produktionslogistik für die Stahlindustrie in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland. The contract has a volume of DM 6.5 million. The target is to optimize the connection between the continuous casting plant with the subsequent hot rolling mill. PSI is continuing its successes in the Systems Business with current orders of well over DM 150 million. The main thrust of this business is the development of complete solutions for strengthening the competitive position of PSI’s customers. By optimizing the link between the continuous casting plant and the hot rolling process Thyssen Krupp Stahl will attain an increased capacity, a reduction in energy consumption and storage turnover, and expanded planning prospects. This will be managed on the basis of a stable and secure computer system in which all processes, material flow and inventories are stored. The PSI temperature model employed will guarantee the supply of the materials is on time and at the right temperature. This project, which is of strategic importance for PSI, provides, for the first time, a consistent link between the various automation levels and production planning. With this project PSI strengthens its position as the leading supplier of production logistics for the steel industry in Germany.
