The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– Berlin, 21 May 2001 – The PSI Group continued the positive trend of financial year 2000 in the 1st quarter of 2001. In the first three months of 2001 sales increased by 27.4% compared to the previous year to EUR 39.5 million (2000: EUR 31 million). The EBIT of KEUR 575 (2000: KEUR 246) was 133.7% above the previous year. Without goodwill amortization, the EBIT increased by 135.7% to KEUR 1,143 (2000: KEUR 485). On 31 March 2001 the new orders of more than EUR 50 million were 32% above the value for last years 1st quarter (EUR 38 million). The increase in sales was for the most part carried by the System Business which grew by 39%. In the Product Business with the software PSIPENTA the concentration in complete solutions with a higher share of services and the use of synergies resulted in a planned improvement of the EBIT by EUR 1.1 million to EUR -1.2 million. The EBIT for the System Business was EUR 1.8 million. As a consequence of one-off expenses from the postponed IPO of the subsidiary UBIS AG and the extension of the sales activities with the focus on major customers and internationality, there was an increase in sales costs which, however, had a positive effect on the new orders. The number of employees increased compared to the 1st quarter of 2000 by 153 to 1,375 employees. Liquidity increased compared to the same period of last year by EUR 15.2 million to EUR 17.7 million. After the successful start in the financial year the Management Board expects the positive development to continue and assumes that the budgeted figures will be attained.
