PSI Awarded Contract by MITNETZ STROM for the Renewal of the Network
Control Technology
PSI has been contracted by MITNETZ STROM to deliver a new network control
system for the management of electricity and gas distribution networks.
MITNETZ STROM is a subsidiary of the enviaM Group, a leading eastern German
energy provider, the majority of which is held by the RWE Group. The new
control system will combine the electricity and gas distribution networks,
which to date had been separate solutions, into an integrated system on the
basis of the current PSIcontrol version. The contract has a volume in the
mid-single-digit million range and was awarded at the end of 2012.
Along with the combination of the previously separated control technology
divisions, the upgrade to the current PSIcontrol software version, the
renewal of the hardware in accordance with a virtualisation concept and
meeting the increased safety demands of the RWE Group are the primary
reasons for the order by MITNETZ STROM.
The new PSIcontrol version offers extensive integrated functions for the
management of renewable energy integration and also takes into
consideration the safety requirements of the BDEW whitepaper Security.
Following the order by the Rhein-Ruhr Verteilnetz GmbH in the middle of
2012, the contract with MITNETZ STROM represents another major network
operator from the RWE Group that has decided in favor of the migration to
the latest PSI control technology. PSI is therefore able to once again
solidify its good market position in network control technology for major
network operators.
