Basis of Accounting [Text Block]	Note 1: Basis of Financial Statement Presentation The accompanying unaudited condensed consolidated financial statements of Patriot National Bancorp, Inc. (the “Company”) and its wholly-owned subsidiaries including Patriot Bank N.A. (the “Bank”), have been prepared pursuant to the rules and regulations of the Securities and Exchange Commission. Accordingly, certain information and footnote disclosures normally included in financial statements prepared in accordance with accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America have been omitted. The accompanying unaudited condensed consolidated financial statements presented herein should be read in conjunction with the previously filed audited financial statements of the Company and notes thereto for the year ended December 31, 2015. The Consolidated Balance Sheet at December 31, 2015 presented herein has been derived from the audited financial statements of the Company at that date, but does not include all of the information and footnotes required by accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America for complete financial statements. Certain prior period amounts have been reclassified to conform to current year presentation. The information furnished reflects, in the opinion of management, all normal recurring adjustments necessary for a fair presentation of the results for the interim periods presented. The results of operations for the three and nine months ended September 30, 2016 are not necessarily indicative of the results of operations that may be expected for the remainder of 2016
