August 2000 Die QS Communications AG, Deutschlands führender alternativer Breitband-Infrastruktur-Anbieter, konnte im 1. Halbjahr ihr Netz schneller und effizienter als geplant aufbauen. Derzeit sind bereits mehr als 30 deutsche Städte mit der DSL-Technologie von QSC aufgerüstet und so mehr als 10 Millionen potenzielle Nutzer erreichbar. Insgesamt investierte QSC im ersten Halbjahr 75 Millionen Mark in den Aufbau eines Hochgeschwindigkeits-Netzes auf der letzten Meile. Die Investitionskosten pro Standort lagen dabei 35 Prozent unter den ursprünglich budgetierten Kosten. Die Aufwendungen für den Netzwerkaufbau führten im ersten Halbjahr 2000 zu einem Verlust in Höhe von 59 Millionen Mark. Diese Zahl liegt rund 30 Prozent besser als die Markterwartung. Der Umsatz betrug knapp eine Million Mark. Für das 2. Halbjahr rechnet QSC mit einem überproportionalem Zuwachs an Kunden und damit an Umsatz. Bereits in der Periode von 30. Juni bis 25. August konnte die Anzahl der verkauften DSL-Leitungen von 800 auf 1600 verdoppelt werden. Bis zum Jahresende sollen 40 deutsche Städte mit der Breitband-Technologie von QSC aufgerüstet sein und 20 Millionen potenzielle Nutzer erreicht werden. QSC_s network already covers more than 30 cities in Germany, reaching more than 10 million potential users. In the first half of the year, QSC invested a total of DM 75 million in its high speed local loop network. At the same time, the capital expenditure per location remained 35% below budget. The costs of building the infrastructure resulted in losses of DM 59 million. This result is some 30% better than market expectations. QSC expects exponential customer and revenue growth for the second half of the year: between June 30 and August 25, the company already more than doubled the number of lines sold from 800 to 1,600. By year end, QSC plans to have its broadband network cover 40 cities in Germany, reaching 20 million potential customers.
