QSC wins Tchibo as new large enterprise customer
Cologne, October 06, 2004. Cologne-based QSC AG, a nationwide
telecommunication provider with its own DSL network, has been operating the
nationwide corporate network for the central locations of Tchibo GmbH since
October 1, 2004.
In addition, Tchibo has now mandated QSC AG to also operate the company’s
existing telecommunication and LAN (local area network) infrastructure. This
involves the consolidation of Tchibo’s existing network infrastructures –
presently consisting of some 4,000 end-user devices, such as telephones, fax
machines and central telecommunication systems, as well as around 3,000 LAN
ports for server, PC and printer communication. Up until now, these
infrastructures have been operated by several service providers. The contracts
have a term of 39 months, with an option to extend them for a further 24
months. It was agreed that further contract details will not be disclosed.
As a result of the signed agreement, QSC is providing Tchibo one-stop shopping
for all services, ranging from the company’s national communication
infrastructure right through to end-to-end networking of its servers and
workstations. This will not only make Tchibo’s voice and data traffic more
secure and reliable, but also more efficient and cost-effective. At the same
time, processes will be streamlined and interfaces consolidated. Moreover, the
contract also requires QSC to migrate Tchibo’s currently separate voice and
data services to a consolidated, centrally managed IP-platform.
“This contract from Tchibo is a major win for QSC. We’re not only operating a
large nationwide VPN here, we’re taking our services right to the individual
employees’ workstations. This makes QSC a true full service provider for the
company’s voice and data communication,” is the way Bernd Puschendorf, Chief
Sales and Marketing Officer, explains the importance of this contract for QSC.
