Segment Reporting [Abstract]
Business Segments BUSINESS SEGMENTS

The Company has continuing operations through the Property Management and Professional segments. The Home Office provides centralized support services through executive, marketing, human resources, IT, accounting, treasury, and billing operations. The chief operating decision-maker (the “CODM”), the President and Chief Executive Officer, establishes the strategic direction of the Company, priorities, and long-term financial objectives. The CODM is ultimately responsible for evaluating segment performance and making decisions regarding resource allocation. The Property Management segment provides office and maintenance field talent to property management companies responsible for the apartment communities' and commercial buildings' day-to-day operations. Professional segment provides specialized talent and business consultants for IT, managed services, finance, accounting, legal, and human resources. The CODM considers variances between actual results and expectations as well as historical trends for segment income when making decisions about allocating capital and personnel resources to each segment.

Segment income (loss) from operations includes all revenue and cost of services, direct selling expenses, depreciation and amortization expense and excludes all general and administrative (home office) expenses. Assets of home office include cash, unallocated prepaid expenses, property and equipment, deferred income taxes, and other assets. The following table provides a reconciliation of revenue and income (loss) from operations by reportable segment to consolidated results for the periods indicated (in thousands):
