During the three months ended December 31, 2024, the Company abandoned three patents which resulted in an impairment of $9,541 on patent costs. During the three months ended December 31, 2023, there was no impairment of patent costs. The weighted average amortization period for patents is approximately 7 years. For the three months ended December 31, 2024 and 2023, amortization of patent costs totaled approximately $8,000 and $9,000, respectively. The total estimated future amortization is as follows:
