Income Taxes Income Taxes
The provision for income taxes for interim periods is based on an estimate of the annual effective tax rate adjusted to reflect the impact of discrete items. Management judgment is required in projecting ordinary income to estimate the Company’s annual effective tax rate.
The effective tax rate for the thirteen weeks ended November 1, 2025, was (0.5)%, compared to (63.8)% for the thirteen weeks ended November 2, 2024. The change in year-over-year effective tax rate was primarily attributable to a full valuation allowance recorded against the Company's net deferred tax assets for the fiscal year ended February 1, 2025.
The effective tax rate for the thirty-nine weeks ended November 1, 2025, was (1.3)%, compared to 14.4% for the thirty-nine weeks ended November 2, 2024. The change in year-over-year effective tax rate was primarily attributable to a full valuation allowance recorded against the Company's net deferred tax assets for the fiscal year ended February 1, 2025.
Refer to Note 14 herein for the information regarding the income tax impact associated with the sale of Pura Vida on March 31, 2025.
On July 4, 2025, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (“OBBBA”) was signed into law, making permanent certain provisions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, including 100% bonus depreciation, domestic research cost expensing, and the business interest expense limitation. In accordance with ASC 740, the Company has recognized the effects of the new tax law in the period of enactment. As the Company maintains a full valuation allowance on its U.S. deferred tax assets, the legislation does not have a material impact on our consolidated financial statements.
