7. NET LOSS PER SHARE

Basic net loss per share is computed by dividing the net loss by the weighted average shares outstanding. Diluted loss per share is computed by dividing the net loss by the weighted average diluted shares outstanding.

All share and per share amounts listed on the table below have been adjusted to reflect the 5% stock dividend discussed in Note 9.

The computation of basic and diluted loss per share is as follows (in thousands, except share and per share data):

The Company had a net loss in the three months ended March 31, 2018 and 2017. As a result, all stock options, restricted stock unit awards, and restricted stock awards were anti-dilutive and excluded from weighted average shares used in determining the diluted loss per share of common stock for the respective periods.

The following weighted average numbers of stock options, restricted stock unit awards, and restricted stock awards have been excluded from the calculation of diluted loss per share of common stock, as their effect would be anti-dilutive for the three months ended March 31, 2018 and 2017:
