• China SMT Forum benefits from strong industry growth

Shanghai / Stuttgart, April 2, 2007 – Business Media China AG (ISIN
DE0005250401, WKN 525040), a specialist for media and marketing in China,
is organizing the China SMT Forum and participating in the growth in the
electronics sector. This means that – straight off the bat – Business Media
China AG (BMC AG) is hosting the leading event in the Chinese electronics
sector.

The success of the China SMT Forum, which was held from March 22-23, 2007
in the Shanghai International Convention Center, once again underscores BMC
AG’s core competence of organizing high-tech events. The two-day conference
was organized in cooperation with the Fraunhofer Institut IZM, and more
than 200 delegates from the Chinese electronics industry participated. The
speakers were mostly well-known international experts from the fields of
research and business, in particular PCB surface mount technology (SMT)
specialists. The speakers included representatives from Siemens, Heraeus,
Philips, Bosch and Flextronics. The delegates represented electronics
groups such as Panasonic, Sharp, Samsung and Alcatel. SMT and MPT
(microelectronic packaging technology) applications are key components in
the production of top quality electronic products.

The China SMT Forum fits with BMC’s concept of placing a strategic focus on
high-tech trade fairs and conferences, and gaining the leadership of the
Chinese market in this regard. Back in December of last year the company
took a major step towards achieving this goal by taking over the world’s
largest optoelectronics trade fair, China International Optoelectronics
Exposition in Shenzhen.

The strong growth in the electronics sector means that rapid growth rates
are forecast for China SMT Forum. Demand for highly developed SMT will also
increase together hand-in-hand with the quality of Chinese electronics
products. In order to cover the growing demand, a trade fair is being
planned together with the conference as part of China SMT Forum 2008.
Market leaders in the SMT sector will be able to present their newest
developments at the trade fair.

Last year China produced electronic devices worth more than USD 200
billion, and the trend is on the up. Moreover, according to forecasts by
Chinese industry associations, in addition to the increasing demand for
soldering, printing and testing technology, sales of assembly machines will
increase from an anticipated USD 210 million in 2006 to USD 1.3 billion
this year. According to this forecast, China would advance to become the
largest market for assembly machines with a share of 50%.

'We are pleased that we have been able to place China SMT Forum as a
leading event for the electronics sector in China straight off the bat,'
commented Klaus M. Hilligardt, BMC’s CEO. 'China SMT Forum is an excellent
supplement to our portfolio of high-tech events. We believe that in this
sector in particular there will be high national and international demand
in future.'
