<P align="left" style="font-size: 13pt"><FONT style="font-size: 11pt">NASHVILLE, Tenn. (November&nbsp;18, 2011) &#151; Kirkland&#146;s, Inc. (NASDAQ: KIRK) today reported
financial results for the 13-week and 39-week periods ended October&nbsp;29, 2011.
</FONT>

<P align="left" style="font-size: 11pt">Net sales for the 13-week period ended October&nbsp;29, 2011, were $97.1&nbsp;million compared with
$92.7&nbsp;million for the 13-week period ended October&nbsp;30, 2010. Comparable store sales for the third
quarter of fiscal 2011 decreased 3.6% compared with a 2.4% decrease in the prior-year quarter. The
Company opened 13 stores and closed 6 stores during the third quarter of 2011, bringing the total
number of stores to 301 as of quarter&#146;s end.


<P align="left" style="font-size: 11pt">Net sales for the 39-week period ended October&nbsp;29, 2011, were $281.2&nbsp;million compared with
$275.7&nbsp;million for the 39-week period ended October&nbsp;30, 2010. Comparable store sales for the 39
weeks ended October&nbsp;29, 2011, decreased 6.7% compared with an increase of 3.5% in the prior-year
period. The Company opened 23 stores and closed 22 stores during the 39-week period ended October
29, 2011.


<P align="left" style="font-size: 11pt">The Company reported net income of $1.2&nbsp;million, or $0.06 per diluted share, for the third quarter
of fiscal 2011 compared with net income of $2.3&nbsp;million, or $0.11 per diluted share, for the third
quarter of fiscal 2010.


<P align="left" style="font-size: 11pt">For the 39-week period ended October&nbsp;29, 2011, the Company reported net income of $3.9&nbsp;million, or
$0.19 per diluted share, compared with net income of $12.0&nbsp;million, or $0.59 per diluted share, for
the 39-week period ended October&nbsp;30, 2010.


<P align="left" style="font-size: 11pt">Robert Alderson, Kirkland&#146;s President and Chief Executive Officer, said, &#147;We were pleased to
realize improvement in our sales results for the third quarter, which were higher than originally
anticipated due to better trends in the second half of the quarter. We experienced sequential
improvement in our merchandise margin during the quarter, resulting in better-than-expected
earnings results.


<P align="left" style="font-size: 11pt">&#147;During the quarter, we saw improvement in some of our important merchandising categories; however,
we have more work to do. Inventories remain in good shape and well-balanced after successful
execution in the third quarter. New store openings continue to produce strong initial sales
results. Despite the delays that we have experienced in accessing space this year, we have a
strong start to the 2012 store class. Our top priority is to enter fiscal 2012 with improving
sales and earnings momentum, and thus far we are on track with that plan.&#148;


<P align="left" style="font-size: 11pt"><I>Stock Repurchase Plan</I>
<BR>
During the third quarter of fiscal 2011, the Company repurchased 837,803 shares of common stock for
a total of $8.0&nbsp;million, or an average price of $9.50 per share, and has repurchased an additional
80,548 shares since quarter end for a total of 918,351 shares. The Company has $31.1&nbsp;million
remaining under its repurchase authorization.

    <TD valign="top"><DIV style="margin-left:0px; text-indent:-0px">Thank you Tripp and good morning everybody. I&#146;ll begin with a review of the third quarter financial statements.<BR>
For the third quarter net sales were $97.1&nbsp;million, that&#146;s up 4.7% versus the prior year quarter. Comparable<BR>
store sales decreased 3.6% and average sales per store were down 0.5%. The comp sales decline was driven by a 4%<BR>
decline in transactions, partially offset by a slight increase in the average ticket.</DIV></TD>

<TR valign="bottom" style="font-size: 12pt">
    <TD align="left" valign="top">&nbsp;</TD>
    <TD>&nbsp;</TD>
    <TD valign="top"><DIV style="margin-left:0px; text-indent:-0px">The decrease in transactions resulted primarily from a 3% decline in traffic counts and a 1% decline in the<BR>
conversion rate. The increase in the average ticket was the result of a 3% increase in items per transaction,<BR>
partly offset by a decline in the average retail selling price.</DIV></TD>

<TR valign="bottom" style="font-size: 12pt">
    <TD align="left" valign="top">&nbsp;</TD>
    <TD>&nbsp;</TD>
    <TD valign="top"><DIV style="margin-left:0px; text-indent:-0px">From a geographic standpoint we saw positive comparable store sales results in California, the upper Midwest and<BR>
North Carolina. Results were below average in Texas and Louisiana. Merchandise categories are showing positive<BR>
comp performance for art, furniture, floral, textiles and gift. These increases were offset primarily by declines<BR>
in alternative wall d&#233;cor, decorative accessories and frames. Our fall Halloween and Harvest offering performed<BR>
well during the quarter, recording a 7% increase over the prior year as similar merchandise margins to last year.</DIV></TD>
</TR>
<TR valign="bottom" style="font-size: 12pt">
    <TD align="left" valign="top">&nbsp;</TD>
    <TD>&nbsp;</TD>
    <TD valign="top"><DIV style="margin-left:0px; text-indent:-0px">E-Commerce sales which are not currently included in our comp base were $2&nbsp;million for the quarter, representing<BR>
an acceleration of 25% from the prior quarter. The business launched in November of 2010 so there were no<BR>
E-Commerce sales in the prior year period. In real estate we opened 13 stores and closed six stores during the<BR>
quarter. At the end of the quarter we operated 301 stores. 250 of these stores or 83% were in off-mall venues use<BR>
and 51 stores or 17% were located in enclosed malls.</DIV></TD>

    <TD align="left" valign="top">&nbsp;</TD>
    <TD>&nbsp;</TD>
    <TD valign="top"><DIV style="margin-left:0px; text-indent:-0px">At the end of the quarter square footage under lease was 2,038,952 and that&#146;s an 8.1% increase from the prior<BR>
year quarter. The average store size was 6774 square feet which is a 6.5% increase over the prior year.</DIV></TD>

    <TD align="left" valign="top">&nbsp;</TD>
    <TD>&nbsp;</TD>
    <TD valign="top"><DIV style="margin-left:0px; text-indent:-0px">Gross profit margin for the third quarter decreased approximately 160 basis points to 37.2% of sales from 38.8%<BR>
in the prior year. The components have reported gross profit margin were as follows. First, the merchandise<BR>
margin decreased 27 basis points as a percentage of sales. The decrease in merchandise margin was the result of<BR>

new financial reporting software system and went live with it effective at the beginning of this fiscal year.</DIV></TD>

Kirkland in terms of how we buy and assort, allocate and deliver goods to stores ultimately helping us drive<BR>

third quarter, with nice improvement in virtually all common sales metrics that we use to track our business.</DIV></TD>

the past several months due to its share of contribution to our annual sales. We reported progress in the second<BR>
quarter in merchandise margin and category and are pleased to see both the mid-single digit comp increase in over<BR>
200 basis points increase in merchandise margin for the category in the past quarter.</DIV></TD>

online. Gift and seasonal were strong contributors during the quarter. Our Halloween Harvest seasonal performed<BR>
extremely well on both the sales and margin lines and exited on time and according to plan.</DIV></TD>

opened or reopened store as it gets into year two and enters the comp base, if you could all just remind us, you<BR>
know, is that &#151; at what point in time do those newly opened stores enter the comp base?</DIV></TD>

seeing in terms of the comps I would say generally speaking that the comps for the new stores are in line with<BR>
what we&#146;re seeing in the company.</DIV></TD>

maturity ramp as the awareness gathers and people realize that we&#146;re there and in the market.</DIV></TD>

just have to do with the timing of the new store openings in the fourth quarter or is there anything else, you<BR>
know, that we should factor into our assumption for any store productivity in the fourth quarter. Just want to<BR>

you describe, you know, if you can any common characteristics?</DIV></TD>

our mall stores. They appear in recent weeks to be as we get into the season to be a little weaker; these are the<BR>
strip center stores. I would &#151; we&#146;ve done really well in some of our new markets as Mike mentioned earlier, been<BR>
strong in California, the upper Midwest, got some new leadership that&#146;s done a really nice job over in the<BR>
Carolina&#146;s and we have a lot of those opportunities in next year as we continue to improve the store and field<BR>
leadership and to, I think, do a better job on the visual side, there will be a really big effort which revives<BR>
an opportunity.</DIV></TD>

you know, the more affluent customers are a little bit more able to spend right now are a little bit less<BR>

mixed. So, you know, some are spending and some are not. But really as you look at the fourth quarter, it ought<BR>
to be a little bit like last year because not much has changed.</DIV></TD>

Texas is a diverse state for us, we have almost 60 stores in<BR>
the state and we&#146;ve struggled a bit on the border with some<BR>
of the issues down there, we have a lot of stores on the<BR>
border and that&#146;s held us back and we&#146;re up against some<BR>
pretty tough numbers there in Texas.</DIV></TD>

pronounced and it&#146;s fairly obvious from the news what&#146;s<BR>
driven some of that.</DIV></TD>

we can be off to a stronger first half starting openings and<BR>
what I would say about that is we have, you know, north of<BR>
20 leases either signed or committed but getting those to a<BR>
transfer of space and ability to construct is typically<BR>
where a lot of retailers are finding a sticking point.</DIV></TD>

this year. And if they all open as they should we really<BR>
will be off to a good start and I think there&#146;s a &#151; and I<BR>
think one of the things it gives us a little bit of &#151; or a<BR>
sense that things are a little better is that on space<BR>
availability I don&#146;t think will change that much next year,<BR>
we are seeing a bit of momentum build among the landlords<BR>
and their ability and their inclination to break-up large<BR>
spaces and I think their learning how to do it and getting<BR>
accustomed to doing it and recognizing that there&#146;s really<BR>
not going to be a single user white knight to come along and<BR>
take up that space.</DIV></TD>

makes a difference but as we look at this quarter, you know,<BR>
I don&#146;t think that that&#146;s a, you know, a really big factor<BR>
and we&#146;re going to do all the business obviously that we can<BR>
do there and it will be decent for the level of SKU&#146;s that<BR>
we have but we have a lot of growth to do there Alex and I<BR>
think we&#146;re going to begin to see that next year.</DIV></TD>

some benefit in Q3, we expect benefit in Q4 and that&#146;s<BR>
playing out as we anticipated. As we get into next year<BR>
while it&#146;s a little early to project what the containers are<BR>
going to be costing us, what we&#146;ve seen over the last<BR>
several months is a stability in that pricing that we didn&#146;t<BR>
see for the prior two years, there was a lot of volatility.</DIV></TD>
