Tax attributes are subject to review, and potential adjustment, by tax authorities. The Company has recorded an income tax expense of $2,000 for the year ended September 30, 2023 (2022 recovery of $111,000) in relation to taxable income generated by its U.S. subsidiary.

For the years ended September 30, 2023 and 2022, the Company did not record a provision for income taxes due to a full valuation allowance against our deferred tax assets. The significant components of the Company’s deferred tax assets that have not been included on the consolidated statement of financial position are as follows:

As at September 30, 2023, the Company has non-capital loss carry-forwards of approximately $90,502,000 (2022 - $87,702,000) available to offset future taxable income in Canada and approximately $91,858,000 (2022 - $66,812,000) available to offset future taxable income in the US. These non-capital loss carryforwards begin to expire in 2031.
