Successful test on Draupne
Det norske oljeselskap ASA (DETNOR) has successfully completed a
production test on the Draupne discovery, where the company holds a 35%
interest.
The production test was carried out using the Songa Delta drilling rig.
A limited part of the total hydrocarbon column in the vertical appraisal
well was perforated. During the test, it produced between 1,100 and
3,300 barrels of oil per day through a choke with an opening of between
28/64 and 60/64 inches.
The oil was light and of good quality. Based on the results, Det norske
believes that production wells in the field can yield good production
rates, with an average production of about 12,000 barrels per day per
well.
The production test in appraisal well 16/1-11 was Det norske's first
production test and as such an important milestone for the company. It
provides a good basis for production testing in future exploration and
appraisal wells operated by Det norske.
Draupne was discovered in 2008, and a total hydrocarbon column of 44
metres was encountered in the discovery well. Appraisal well 16/1-11
proved a hydrocarbon column of 57 metres. It has now been decided to
drill a side track to determine the oil-water contact in the field. The
test is a major step in the right direction for a commercialisation of
Draupne, but further analysis of the results, as well as the information
from the upcoming side track well, is necessary before an investment
decision can be made.
In addition to the appraisal well on Draupne, Det norske is currently
involved in another four well operations on the Norwegian continental
shelf, including in PL 337, Storkollen, where Det norske is operator and
has an ownership interest of 45%.
Det norske has made a discovery and decided to drill a delineation well
in PL 460. Det norske has full ownership of the discovery, which lies 20
kilometres west of the Frøy field.
In PL 038D, the operator Talisman has started drilling a well to
delineate the Grevling discovery. Det norske owns a 30% interest in the
licence.
In PL 332, the operator Talisman has started drilling an exploration
well in the Optimus prospect. Det norske owns a 40% interest in the
licence.
