Goodwill and Other Intangible Assets

Goodwill of $154.9 million and $158.7 million on February 28, 2015 and August 31, 2014, respectively, is included in other assets on our Consolidated Balance Sheets. Changes in the net carrying amount of goodwill for the six months ended February 28, 2015, by segment, are as follows:

Intangible assets subject to amortization primarily include customer lists, trademarks and agreements not to compete, and are amortized over their respective useful lives (ranging from 2 to 30 years). Total amortization expense for intangible assets during the three and six months ended February 28, 2015 was $1.8 million and $3.6 million, respectively. Total amortization expense for intangible assets during the three and six months ended February 28, 2014 was $2.6 million and $4.9 million, respectively. The estimated annual amortization expense related to intangible assets subject to amortization for the next five years is as follows:
