1. Basis of
Presentation – Summary of Significant Accounting
Policies
The
accompanying unaudited condensed consolidated financial statements
include the accounts of Maiden Holdings, Ltd. and its subsidiaries
(the “Company” or “Maiden”) and have been
prepared in accordance with generally accepted accounting
principles in the United States (“GAAP”) for interim
financial statements and with the instructions to Form 10-Q and
Article 10 of Regulation S-X as promulgated by the U.S. Securities
and Exchange Commission (“SEC”). Accordingly they do
not include all of the information and footnotes required by GAAP
for complete financial statements. All significant inter-company
transactions and accounts have been eliminated in the consolidated
financial statements.
These
interim consolidated financial statements reflect all adjustments
that are, in the opinion of management, necessary for a fair
presentation of the results for the interim period and all such
adjustments are of a normal recurring nature. The results of
operations for the interim period are not necessarily indicative,
if annualized, of those to be expected for the full year. The
preparation of financial statements in conformity with GAAP
requires management to make estimates and assumptions that affect
the amounts reported in the financial statements and accompanying
notes. Actual results could differ from those
estimates.
These
unaudited condensed consolidated financial statements, including
these notes, should be read in conjunction with the Company’s
audited consolidated financial statements, and related notes
thereto, included in the Company’s Annual Report on Form 10-K
for the year ended December 31, 2010.
Certain
reclassifications have been made for 2010 to conform to the 2011
presentation and have no impact on net income previously
reported.
