Cambi has entered into an agreement with a consortium formed by Espina, Obrascon and Aquambiente to deliver a thermal hydrolysis process (THP) system for the new Silvouta wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) in Santiago de Compostela, Spain.
The THP system will be installed between two digestion stages, a Cambi configuration recognised for its ability to maximise biogas production and wastewater sludge dewatering, while producing high-quality, stable biosolids suitable for land application, contributing to a more sustainable and cost-effective operation.

The integration of Cambi's THP at Silvouta aligns with the plant's design to generate energy for internal consumption and produce high-quality biosolids for agricultural use.
The Silvouta WWTP is built by the state-owned company Aguas de las Cuencas de España (ACUAES) to treat an average wastewater flow equivalent to about one Olympic-size swimming pool per hour, serving a population of approximately 250,000 residents.
Silvouta will be Cambi’s fifth installation in Spain. Delivery of the THP system to the site is scheduled for 2026.
