One of six companies recognized by the World Technology Network for Visionary
Contribution to Materials Science and Technology

Oslo - October 8, 2012 - Thin Film Electronics ASA ("Thinfilm") today announced
The World Technology Network ("WTN") has selected Thinfilm as a finalist for the
prestigious World Technology Award in the Materials category. As one of six
finalists in the category, Thinfilm joins a roster of approximately 50
organizations and 100 individuals in this annual competition deemed by the
members of the WTN to be doing the "most innovative work of the greatest likely
long-term significance."

The World Technology Awards have been presented by the WTN since 2000, honoring
innovators in science and technology in 20 different categories. The nominees
for the 2012 World Technology Awards were selected by the WTN members through an
intensive, global process over a period of several months.

The winners of the World Technology Awards will be announced at the TIME & Life
Building on the evening of October 23rd at the culmination of the World
Technology Summit. The awards will be presented by the WTN in association with
TIME magazine, Fortune, CNN, Science/AAAS, Technology Review, and others.

The recognition by the World Technology Network follows awards earlier this year
from both the FlexTech Alliance and IDTechEx. Thinfilm was also recently
recognized by GigaOm as one of the 15 Most Innovative Companies in mobile.

Thinfilm is exhibiting 9-11 October at Plastic Electronics 2012 in Dresden,
Germany, booth 2.292.
