IDEX presents a technology concept for fingerprint sensors in mobile phone
display glass at the Mobile World Congress 2013 in Barcelona

At the Mobile World Congress 2013 in Barcelona, one of the world's largest and
most important trade fairs for the mobile industry, IDEX presents a novel
SmartFinger Sensor-in-glass technology concept.

Barcelona, Spain, 25 February 2013: IDEX ASA today announced that it will
present a technology concept of a fingerprint sensor embedded in the display
cover glass of mobile handsets, SmartFinger(®) Sensor-in-glass. IDEX displays
the solution to the mobile industry at the Mobile World Congress Exhibition and
Conferences 25-28 February 2013 in Barcelona.

The Sensor-in-glass concept uses IDEX's principle of separating the sensing
array from the electronics. The unique, patented through-substrate via
connections enable the fingerprint image to be read through virtually any
material such as glass, silicon, polymer and ceramics.

"This technology demonstrator shows the functional possibilities that IDEX's IP
and technology can offer", says CEO Ralph W. Bernstein in IDEX ASA.

IDEX will also demonstrate various mobile phone-related technology
implementations, such as fingerprint recognition on the Android operating
system.

SmartFinger Film fingerprint sensor

The patented IDEX SmartFinger sensor is a compact fingerprint swipe sensor,
available in various form factors, designed for integration in mobile and card
products. It has low power consumption and offers superior biometric
performance. The SmartFinger fingerprint swipe sensor can be easily implemented
into a variety of applications requiring biometric authentication such as mobile
phones, one-time password devices, smartcards, ID cards, access control devices
and biometric tokens. The technology is protected by multiple patent families
covering subjects such as sensing principles, sensor component design and image
processing algorithms. Combining the extremely small software footprint with a
low-resource microcontroller of choice and alternative configurations, IDEX is
able to offer a complete biometric authentication solution tailored specifically
for mobile phone and card applications.

SmartFinger evaluation and development kits

IDEX will be showing the Smartfinger evaluation kit for customers who wish to
evaluate the Smartfinger Film fingerprint sensor. The evaluation kit connects to
any Windows PC via a USB port and allows for finger print enrollment,
verification and match.

IDEX will also be showing the SmartFinger Embedded development kit which enables
customers to incorporate their product application with IDEX's SmartFinger
biometric embedded libraries onto a single low-cost Cortex M3 based
microprocessor.
